The British Medical Journal

Registration, alongside a handful of other modules and classes, are free, and so you will have the opportunity to further your learning at home, without the need for deadlines and a set time structure for your learning.

You can access the modules through the account portal once you log in, and although not each course will be relevant to you as a nurse or midwife, included in these media sources are reviews of each course, to help you decide whether this is right for you. The British Heart Foundation Coventry University

The British Heart Foundation is the leading charity in the fight against heart disease. They’re working with several universities across England, Scotland and Wales to provide postgraduate education on how to diagnose, care for people who have heart problems. Their aim is to help doctors better treat their patients by an understanding of what they can do together.

Coventry University holds two main courses for those looking to improve their work as a doctor, nurse or midwife. For example, Congenital Cardiothoracic Care PFCert Is a fully online course that takes place over 12 months.

Alongside this, their own Critical Care Nursing PG Cert course is now open for 2022 entry. This is a course that also takes place online over the course of 1 year. This course is directly designed to be delivered over three semesters that you can attend on a part-time basis so that the university can work with you to create a balance of the requirements needed between your work and your studies.

The course incorporates the National Competency Framework Step 3 Competencies for Critical Care Nurses as a core part of the assessment process to ensure that it is in aligned with national standards.

The Open University in partnership with Royal College Nursing

The RCN has partnered with the Open University to offer a range of courses that can be taken as individual modules or can be used to work towards an undergraduate, postgraduate degree qualification. Although this is a paid course, this is because TOU is renowned as one of the best quality options for those I think your sector, with a second to none experience. They also encourage that RCN members and staff are offered a 10% discount on a range of OU courses, as well as specific opportunities for financial support.

The difference between RCN’s opportunity with The Open University is that you have the opportunity to take a range of classes from 10 point short courses at level 1, to 60 point courses at level 3. Whether these are taken individually or alongside a larger qualification is up to you.
